Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world and what better place to gain some experience than on Koh Tao?

Our MMA Instructor Charlye Vivas has a long history of MMA, boxing and BJJ experience. He’s come to Thailand to get people involved in the sport he loves while honing his Muay Thai and Boxing skills with trainers Bang and Carl.

Following graduation from Francis Marion University Charlye was awarded his purple belt in Brazilian JiuJitsu under Guy Chapman & team Lloyd Irvin. He then trained at Gordo Jiu Jitsu, Rio de Janeiro under one of the greats, Roberto Correa de Lima.

Charlye then returned to the USA to further his BJJ & MMA training under life-long martial artist, Jeff Jimmo. Jimmo served as Charlye’s head coach & mentor for several years.

Undefeated under the tutelage of Jimmo, Charlye captured the ELITE featherweight title. He then went back to his roots & with the help of friend and Jiu Jitsu coach, Steve Hall (Royce Gracie Black Belt) Charlye was awarded the rank of Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Jeff Jimmo in late 2012.

The road is not over. Charlye is on his way to black belt where the true Journey of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will begin.
